Jonathan D. Mandell, MD., F.A.C.S.
Jonathan Mandell, MD grew up in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Brown University in 1983, and received his doctorate in medicine from Duke University School of Medicine in 1987. Dr. Mandell underwent residency training in general surgery in New York City at the New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center, which included rotations at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan.
Dr. Mandell has been a member of Andover Surgical Associates since 1995. He has been board certified in general surgery since 1993, and has been a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1996. Dr. Mandell has a special interest in complex abdominal hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction. In addition to routine open and laparoscopic techniques for hernia repair, he also is able to perform preperitoneal approaches, component separation release and other techniques to further tailor hernia repair to a particular situation in complex cases.
Dr. Mandell along with his wife Sue have been residents of Andover, Massachusetts since 1995 where they raised two daughters. Sue works as a special needs teaching assistant in the Andover Public School system. Dr. Mandell’s hobbies include woodworking, radio control model aviation and drones, artwork, skiing, and more recently learning to play the harmonica.
